Jeans Week, Day 1

Button- down - Gap
Tee - Gap
Jeans - Gap
Belt - Thrifted, from Goodwill
Shoes - BCBG, from DSW

Every so often, we get an opportunity to support a fundraiser at school by paying to wear jeans for a week.  I'm not all big on wearing jeans to work because sometimes it just seems harder for me to make jeans work for...work.

Like today.  I had something specific in mind, but it just did not come to fruition.  This isn't a totally horrible outfit, but it just wasn't what I had in mind. The shirt on top is loosey-goosey and drapey.  The button-down underneath is big and boxy (and required a couple of safety pins to minimize the bulk).  And as much as I love this belt, I could have used something else.  Aaaannnnd I originally wanted to wear a different pair of shoes.  So, I guess I should have just started over from scratch.

Oh, well.

You take the good with the bad, and you move on.

Sooo....moving on to tomorrow!

Good night!
(By the way, if you have suggestions on how to try this outfit again...but better... please let me know!)

  1. I actually love how this outfit came together, but I def understand what you mean about an outfit not turning out like you originally envisioned for sure! ;)

  2. Aw, you look great! I love the layering here, and yay for getting to be comfy in jeans! We are allowed to wear jeans every Friday :)

  3. I think this looks great, but I know what you mean. The jeans with the shoes are awesome! Maybe if you tried a button up with a collar under the top?

  4. I think you look good but it is frustrating when something doesn't work out as envisioned. My husband is always perplexed that it's harder for me to get dressed for work on casual weekends than the rest of the (business casual) week.

  5. I think the outfit actually looks really good, but it probably feels uncomfortable because of the bulky shirt under the sweater. That's one reason I don't do button-ups under sweaters. I feel all bulky.

And I love, love, love the cuffed jeans with the shoes.

  6. The beauty of getting dressed is if you don't like it, you can always try again next time.

However...I will say that I really do love this. I love the wide neck layered on top of the oxford, I love the cuffed jeans, and the heels. I think you look awesome!

  9. Great fundraiser and I really should stop reading to play catch up from the most recent to avoid asking silly questions. I know what you mean when you feel something is amiss with a look. As long as you wore it with confidence it worked.
