Whenever students ask me, "Mrs. C...what do you want me to get you for Christmas?", I always say:

"A pair of Christian Louboutins."  Of course, they look at me as though I've said something in an alien language.

Anyway, the most money I've ever spent on a pair of shoes was about $120 (and they were actually boots).  But what I reallyreallyreallyreallyreally want is a pair of Louboutins.

So....

A teacher across the hall mentioned to me a few weeks ago that her daughter has a pair of cobalt blue suede Louboutins that she would like to get rid of (I won't divulge the reason why).  I immediatley lit up and said that I would be more than happy to take them off of her hands...("Ask the size and price first, Kish"..."Ask the size and price first...").

And so, without any further conversation, today, she brought them for me and said that her daughter would sell them for a hundred bucks.  A hundred bucks.  For Christian Louboutin shoes. In great condition.

Of course, they were beautiful.

And, of course, they were a size 6.5, and...

...of course, I wear a 7.5.

In my mind, I was already living the dream of Cinderella and rockin' a crazy, hot pair of shoes.  But when I went to put my foot in one shoe, I became one of Cinderella's horrid stepsisters. To my chagrin, though, I was actually able to squeeze fit my feet all the way into the shoes. And as quickly as I was falling in love, I was also losing circulation in my toes.

And so, after a very difficult and heated argument between me, myself, and my other self about whether or not I should buy a pair of Louboutins for a hundred bucks that I'll never be able to walk in...I walked away without them.

Now, I'll just have to hold onto my dreams...or hope that one day, one of my classes will collect money and take pity on their hard-working teacher....

(Speaking of students and school...Thanks to those of you who responded to yesterday's post.  Your comments are sincerely and greatly appreciated.)

Today's Lesson: Learn the Lingo

Top - NY&Co (Marshall's)
Skirt - Forever 21
Shoes - Nine West (Ross)
Earrings - Forever 21
Ring - Loft

Apparently, I'm not as hip as I thought I was.

Today, with one of my classes, I was trying to be humorous (again, my downfall) and, while doing my "homemade-JJ Evans- jive-turkey- swagger-walk" across the room, I made the statement (referring to the narrator of the story that we were reading) that,

"He wanted to have a l'il shorty by his side."

Unanimously, the crowd went wild.

Not because they appreciated my hip-ness.

But because I obivously had none.

I was promptly and emphatically corrected on my mispronunciation of the term "shawty".

And what really surprised me was that almost every single student knew the "correct" way to pronounce this slang term (how could they know and I not know!?), and they were serious about correcting me.

So, what can I say?  This English-teacher-shawty stands corrected.

The Sweetest Thing

Cashmere Cardigan - Express (old)
Skirt - Talbots
Shoes - Nine West
Necklace - one of the many awesome items
 I won from Tiffany's giveaway!

Because I really can't think of anything else to write, I'll share with you a little story from about a week ago:

First, let me mention that one of the many selling features of our house, when we built it several years ago, was the fact that the master bath came with dual vanities.  I loved that I wouldn't have to share a sink (or counter space) with my husband.  Little did I know that four-plus years later, I would actually have to end up sharing my side of the vanity with another guy.....my four-year old child!

Every morning, P uses my sink to brush his teeth.  And on this particular morning last week, I was already "mid-brush" when he decided to butt in.  So, not only did he and his little 30-something pound body take up all the space on my side of the vanity, but he changed the temperature of the water from very warm (ok, nearly hot) to very cold (the nerve of him!).

I hate cold water.
He hates hot water.

He got the vanity space.
I was forced to walk around while brushing my teeth.

No big deal, right?  A mom should make those little sacrifices for her kid(s), shouldn't she?

Well, I guess I'm a bad mommy because, quite frankly, I didn't want to!  Seriously, this kid takes For.Ever. to brush his teeth!

This is his process:
Step 1: Play around on step stool and pretend to teeter and totter on it.
Step 2: Play with toothbrush.
Step 3: Pretend to not be able to pump toothpaste out of tube.
Step 4: Put toothpaste onto toothbrush...then accidentally-on-purpose let paste drop off of brush into the sink. Then play with that until it goes down the drain.
Step 5: Repeat Step 3 and first part of Step 4.
Step 6: Take several minutes to brush teeth.
Step 7: Splash water all over the counter his face.

So, while he was going through this whole process, I was standing around with a mouth full of toothpaste and stuff, which, to me, gets kind of gross after a while.

(Waiting....frustration....waiting...frustration....)

I was close to really getting upset when, after completing Step 7, P surprised me by adding a Step 8 for the first time:

After he completed his ritual, he did the most amazingly simple and chivalrous act that made me swallow all of the bad thoughts that I was having of shoving him off of his stepstool (I'm just kidding!), and almost made me literally swallow the toothpaste gunk in my mouth (seriously!).

Before stepping off of his stool, my four-year old male child reached over the sink... and changed the faucet tap from cold back to hot.   Just for me.

Was that not the sweetest thing in the world or what?

Color Block Party!

When I was a sophomore in high school, my mom took a friend and me to a school function.  While in the car, my friend and I were all hyped up listening to music.

My friend yelled out, "Party over here!"

I yelled out, "Party over there!"

And my mom...who is not quite..."hip"...looked around nervously and asked, "Where's the party?"

Ahahahahahahahaha....!!!!

The only reason I'm sharing that is because after I typed out the title of this post, the word "party" triggered that memory.  I'll never forget that moment.  My mom was serious, by the way.

Anywayward, my sister told me the other day that she was getting bored of my blog b/c I wasn't posting any pics (this was the sister who tortured me by the way...surprised?).  So, to keep her from drumming up some way to scare me to death (just kidding), I'm going to comply.

Pay no mind to the differences in skin tone.
It's the same chick in all three pics. ;)

This was worn during the last month or two of the school year.
I never posted it, though. I had a hard time working with this top....which, by the way
I scored at Loft a few months back for less than $5!!!
(The shorts are from The Limited, the shoes are old Nine West, and the little red thing by my left foot
is a piece of a twizzler that P threw at me...whose kid is that anyway?!)

My second time wearing this top was this past Friday.
I hung out all day with my little homey, P. (OK, I'll claim him.)
We were going to take him to see Cars 2 that evening, but, duh, it was opening
night, and we didn't get tickets in advance. Can you say, "SOLD OUT"?
I stayed with the white bottom combination (linen shorts from Loft), but tried to throw another color in the "party" with the turquoise.  On the fence about this one.

Here's another color-blocked top. I actually wore this today! (I haven't said that in a while!)
The top is from Gap (from several months ago) and the jeggings are from Loft (also a few months ago).  I realized, after seeing myself in this outfit with flat sandals,
that it is oh-so-necessary for me to wear heels (thank you, Steve Madden).
Or else, I look like a block.
And not a color-block.
Just a rectangular block.

And I don't party with squares.
